Principle

mind3D does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to external servers. The app works entirely offline and locally on your device. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

Local data storage

All content you create is stored exclusively in your device’s protected local storage. On PC, the Windows version also keeps a backup copy in your user folder. There is no synchronisation with any server. The user name you enter in the app is only used for display and stays on the device.

Encryption

If you choose, mind3D encrypts your mind maps on the device. Keys, passwords and recovery words never leave the device and are never transmitted.

No cloud backup

mind3D does not take part in the automatic Android backup (Google Drive) or in the transfer to a new device. You back up your mind maps yourself using the export function.

Export and import

Export and import transfer data only locally, via your system’s file dialog. What you do with exported files afterwards, for example putting them into cloud storage, is your own responsibility. When inserting and exporting, mind3D removes metadata such as GPS location and camera data from images.

Plugins

Included plugins (colour scheme, projects, 3D view, Markdown import, Security Center) run exclusively locally and send no data. Plugins you install yourself from a file have access to your mind maps; only install plugins from a trustworthy source. The app blocks internet connections for plugins as well.

No tracking or analytics tools

No analytics services, advertising SDKs or tracking frameworks are integrated. Your usage is neither recorded nor passed on.

Permissions

The Android app requests neither internet access nor access to your files. It only uses the USE_BIOMETRIC permission so that the optional app lock with fingerprint or face works. Your device checks the biometric data itself; mind3D never sees it.

Deleting data

Android: when you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted completely. Windows: uninstalling removes the program; your mind maps in the folder %APPDATA%\mind3D are kept so that nothing is lost by accident, and you can delete that folder yourself. Files you exported stay wherever you saved them.

This website

The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics tools and loads no content from third-party servers (no external fonts, scripts or videos).

Hosting: the website is provided via GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit, GitHub processes technically necessary access data such as your IP address, time, page requested and browser identifier in order to deliver the page and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details are in GitHub’s privacy statement.

Downloads: the Windows installer is delivered via GitHub Releases; the same applies as above. The Android download runs via Google Play; Google’s privacy policy applies there.

Email and Discord: if you email us, we process your address and message only to reply (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed. For the Discord community, Discord’s privacy policy also applies.

Your rights

As the app does not process any personal data, we hold no such data about you. You can contact us at the email address above at any time with questions. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Reporting security vulnerabilities

Please send reports of security problems to mind3D.dev@gmail.com with the subject “Security”. Reports are treated confidentially; details are only published after a fix.
